What games are you playing this weekend?
October 18, 2008 by Mike
The weekend is finally here! After a couple of quiet weeks release-wise, things are expected to heat up before October ends. I’m talking about games like Chrono Trigger, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, or Guitar Hero World Tour, among others. Before the year ends, game purchases are going to get even trickier as more anticipated games are released.
We at Daily Nintendo would like to ask you a question before the mad holiday rush arrives. What games are you playing this weekend, in this lull before the storm?
This blogger is currently playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii and Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen for the DS. Since I won’t be able to bring my Wii with me when I cover a gaming event this weekend, I leave it to my DS (and DQIV) to keep me company when I’m in need of a quick gaming fix.
Before retiring for the night, I’ve managed to get some quality time with Zelda and rescue Link’s Ordon Village pals by filling up a Vessel of Light with “light essences.” The next objective is to beat the Goron Mines. My game clock says I’ve already devoted over eight hours, but I’ve only reached the second dungeon. Reviews say Twilight Princess can take as long as 60 hours, so I expect even more adventuring.
To give you a better perspective, a typical shooter lasts up to 12 hours, while long RPGs like Final Fantasy eats up around 40 hours of gameplay.
DQIV is obviously different, being a handheld. The game’s pace feels a bit quicker than the original NES version. Despite the random battles, I feel that my progress isn’t hampered because the fights are rather brief as well. Have I mentioned that the game looks utterly gorgeous in cheery 3D?
But enough about me—what are you playing this weekend?
