Upcoming games for this week’s Wii Shop Channel

The Wii’s Virtual Console and Wii Ware are coming out with several new offerings this week. You better start readying your Wii Points because the games are looking pretty good. See what’s coming out after the jump.

Wii Ware

  • Mega Man 9 is HAWT.

Mega Man 9 (1,000 Wii Points): This is the latest game in the original Mega Man series and the first numbered entry since Mega Man 8, which came out last 1996. Aside from Wii Ware, Mega Man 9 is also coming out for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. This game is as old school as it gets.

  • Plättchen Twist ‘n’ Paint (1,000 Wii Points): According to Bplus, the developer, Plättchen is a “puzzle shooter” that’s said to have over 100 hours of gameplay, which involves painting a sequence of tiles the same color to make them disappear. To complicate things, there’s a time limit to painting tiles. Plättchen supports up to eight players simultaneously.

Virtual Console

  • Vectorman returns, this time to the Wii's Virtual Console.

Super Dodge Ball (500 Wii Points): Ahh, Super Dodge Ball. The memories sure rush back like a ball smashing one’s face. In Super Dodge Ball, players take control of the U.S. dodge ball team and travel the world in an effort to become the best dodge ballers around. Two players can enjoy a head-to-head game or play Bean Ball, a six-character free-for-all.

  • Vectorman (800 Wii Points): A sludge pilot is the Earth’s only hope. Does this sound familiar? Because it’s Vectorman, a 2D action platformer from Sega Genesis’ glory days. Vectorman can transform into a drill, bomb, and an aquatic form. Vectormania lives on.

FYI, Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets.
