Tips and Tricks - Punch Out!! (Wii)
June 11, 2009 by Mike

Disco Kid is just begging for a knockout.
Are you ready to defend your title, Little Mac? Great! Then get a load of the new Disco Kid! Last time we saw this pugilist in Wii’s Punch-Out!!, he was sleeping (i.e. knocked out) like a log. Since his loss, Disco Kid has been busy learning new moves. His new gimmick in title defense is aerobics, and has the spandex to boot. This week, we teach you Disco Kid’s moves.
Here’s how you beat Disco Kid:
- First and foremost, pay attention to his color. When Disco Kid or any boxer turns red, they immediately throw a punch afterward.
- When Disco Kid says “Pressure time,” he’ll throw a straight right. Sidestep to either direction, then counter with several punches.
- During the first round, Disco Kid’s favorite punch is a left hook. He always says “Boxercize” prior to the left hook. Dodge to the right, then counter with several punches.
- You can sneak in a punch before Disco Kid says “Pressure time.”
- After Disco Kid’s first knockdown, he’ll change his moves.
- When he gets up from a knockdown, Disco Kid would start doing a little dance by rolling his arms, then his tooth would sparkle. Give him a punch immediately after for a star.
- When Disco Kid says “Speed bag,” he’ll throw a straight left. As always, sidestep to either direction, then counter with several punches.
- When Disco Kid starts doing a jumping jack then says “And one,” he’ll immediately throw a nasty right hook. Sidestep to the left, then counter with several punches.
- After the first round, Disco Kid starts employing tougher tactics. One of these is a quick, three punch combination that’s pretty hard to predict. Disco Kid would perform the punch combo and quickly say “one, two, three,” almost simultaneously. Your best way to prepare yourself for this combo is—as always–pay attention to his color. When you do manage to sidestep in time, remember to counter with a few punches afterwards.
- In round three, Disco Kid would add even more tricks. Remember the jumping jacks? He’ll be counting off to as far as “three” in the third round, so be ready.
If you can figure out all Disco Kid’s tricks, then this fight would be manageable. Knock him around several times and you probably won’t need a TKO. The Disco Kid would again be sleeping soundly.
