Tips and Tricks - Punch-Out!! (Wii)

This is how you deal with Von Kaiser.
Time for the next Punch Out!! guide. As mentioned last week, we’re skipping Little Mac’s road to the championship since that’s pretty easy, especially for the veterans who want more challenge. Today, we look into the nitty-gritty of the title defense match against military boxing teacher Von Kaiser. If you think an old dog can’t handle new tricks, watch out—this guy has a whole new set of moves.
Von Kaiser looks a bit different. He’s more confident, and has a new hairstyle to boot. Here’s how you beat him:
- If there’s one thing that doesn’t change about Von Kaiser, it’s his head shaking, which shows that he’s about to throw a straight left. The timing is familiar, so when Von Kaiser unleashes his punch, sidestep to dodge and give him a nice counter.
- As Von Kaiser is about to throw a right hook, he utters something that sounds like “Fro-nich” so watch out for it. When this happens, sidestep to dodge then perform a counter.
- As Von Kaiser is about to throw a left hook, he exclaims something like “Aha, ingel-fight.”
- As Von Kaiser is about to send his right fist to your right side, he says something like that sounds like “Cuckoo.” Sidestep to evade the attack, then give him a few punches.
- After Von Kaiser falls for the first time, he will add a new attack where he steps back, screams “attack,” spin once then throw a nasty punch. Just sidestep then punch him a few more times.
- Here’s another new attack to watch out for: Von Kaiser would scream “Boons” then sends his right fist to your right side. Sidestep and counter accordingly.
- When Von Kaiser starts adding new attacks, he would also begin making fakes, saying “Fro-nich” or “Aha, ingel-fight” and then do the opposite of what you’re used to seeing. Sometimes, he would fake twice.
- Good luck getting a TKO on Von Kaiser in the second round. His fakes take too much time so the match might extend to the third round. If you do dodge his attacks correctly most of the time, you’ll eventually KO him before the fight ends.
