Tips and Tricks - No More Heroes (Wii)

Now that you’ve conquered Punch-Out!!, it’s time to return to Santa Destroy and see what Travis Touchdown is up to. Last time we checked, Travis was busy dodging bullets in a baseball stadium. This week, Travis plays the ungentlemanly assassin and picks a fight with Shinobu, a gal with mad katana skills. Shinobu is easily one of the toughest opponents in No More Heroes so pay attention.

Here are the things to remember when fighting Shinobu:

• Never let go of the lock-on button. Shinobu throws a lot of attacks so you need to be ready. Keeping the lock-on button pressed would automatically block her deadly sword swings.
• Shinobu has this nasty long-range attack called Sonic Sword that inflicts significant damage. Your opponent would charge, scream “Sonic Sword,” and then shoot. Make sure you evade this attack by pressing Z (lock-on button) and left or right on the Wiimote directional pad.
• Don’t get too carried away when attacking. Attack Shinobu only when she’s vulnerable, but back off when she starts preparing for an attack.
• When not attacking, try to keep a pillar between you and Shinobu. It’s a helpful defensive tactic because it allows you time to react to your enemy’s quick attacks.
• Shinobu is usually vulnerable after unleashing any charged attack. Use this as an opportunity to attack her with a few swings.
• When Shinobu holds her katana in front of her, press and hold the B button for a charged attack that could stun Shinobu. When stunned, immediately perform a wrestling move to maximize your damage.
• If Shinobu pauses, points her katana (at you), and taunts you, use this as an opportunity to unload a few devastating attacks on her.
• Use the Dark Step—it’s really effective.
• Charge the A button and attack when you have the opportunity. Follow up the charged attack with a few more swings for good measure. It’s pretty effective against Shinobu.

In summary: let Shinobu finish an attack, dodge her attack, and then attack her a few times while she’s vulnerable. Just be careful of her follow-up attacks. Use the Dark Step when you get the chance, and play defensive. You’ll beat Shinobu in no time.
