Tips and Tricks - Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (DS)
May 15, 2009 by Mike

You can never have too many car chases in GTA.
More tutorials for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars are coming your way. Things get more interesting this week as you find yourself caught between crazy car chases, drive-bys, rub-outs, and an escaping helicopter. Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride for your DS.
The Tail Bagging The Dogs is another tricky mission. Remember the Korean last week whose car you led to the police? Well, he’s in trouble and your job is to follow the guy around as he apologizes to his underbosses. Just make sure you have a substantial amount of ammo for your Uzi because you’ll need it.
- First things first: get to the police station marked on the GPS before the Korean member is released. Just make sure you check the trash bag for weapons outside Wade Heston’s hideout.
- Just as you’ve arrived at the station, the Korean would drive off the opposite way. Follow the Korean, but don’t get too close or you’ll scare him off.
- Your target would stop at a certain location to meet an underboss in his gang. As the Korean drives off, you’re supposed to kill the underboss before he or the Korean escapes. There’s no need to get out of the car. Shoot the underboss as you drive slowly past. When the underboss is dead, catch up with the Korean. The Korean would meet with three more underbosses so just rinse and repeat.
- The fourth and last underboss would notice that you’ve been following the Korean so it’s time to take them all out. They’ll be escaping with a car so just follow the red dot on the map.
- When you reach the escaping car, spray it with bullets until it stops or blows up. With the enemies taken care of, the mission ends.
It’s time for some Copter Carnage. This mission is a combination of defending and chasing.
- The Spanish Lords are attacking, and you’re supposed to protect Uncle Kenny’s merchandise (trucks marked blue) and take out the aggressors. Don’t forget to check the garbage bin nearby for weapons.
- The trucks have a blue life bar shown at the upper screen. Make sure the bar doesn’t run out of life, or it is game over.
- Near one of the trucks is a bulletproof vest. Take it for some protection.
- Tip: if a red dot is approaching, you can start firing even before the enemy is shown onscreen. Doing this would give you an advantage since you get to shoot them first.
- Don’t forget to get dropped firearms from dead foes for more ammo.
- When all the attackers are gone, the Spanish Lords would flee via helicopter. Follow the helicopter with a nearby car.
- There’s no GPS path shown on the map this time, so just go towards the direction of the red dot, which stands for the helicopter.
- Along the way, there’s going to be a toll. You have the option to pay or not, but you wouldn’t want the cops after you while chasing a helicopter.
- The helicopter would eventually land somewhere. This is the Spanish Lords’ warehouse. Mission ends.
As the mission title suggests, Kenny Strikes Back. His victim: the Spanish Lords. It’s time for some sweet revenge.
- Time to return to the warehouse. Just follow the GPS on the map. Make sure you have enough weapons—there’s going some shooting here.
- To get into the compound, unlock the gate by approaching the chevron. This would start a mini-game where you’re supposed to smash the lock open, and then short the wires by connecting them together.
- There would be several enemies in the vicinity. Take them all down before stealing the storage van that’s marked by a blue dot.
- You’ll play a mini-game to hotwire the van. Thankfully, there’s no time limit on this one. Use the screwdriver to force the ignition lock and follow the direction of the arrow.
- Just as you’ve started the van, more Spanish Lords arrive and close the gate. Get out of the van first and take them out. During the gunfight, the gate would open again. Finish off all the Spanish Lords first before going back to the van.
- When inside the van, drive back to Kenny’s warehouse by following the GPS. Careful though, more Spanish Lords are roaming around and would shoot you on sight. Try to outmaneuver them by driving in the opposite side of the road or weaving in and out of the traffic.
- Again, a tollgate would ask for payment. It’s your call if you’re going to pay or not. The advantage of not paying is that when cops chase you, they’d make things more difficult for the Spanish Lords.
- When you reach the warehouse, drive the van into Kenny’s garage marked by chevrons.
- It’s not over yet! Cut away the panel marked by red dots to find hidden drugs. Any that you can’t carry will be stored in your safe house. When you exit the garage, the mission ends.
