Tips and Tricks – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)

Like any Zelda game, Twilight Princess begins with Link having three heart containers that serve as his hit points. As players progress through the game, several heart containers would be revealed. However, this wouldn’t be a proper Zelda game without all the secrets, correct? Pay attention, traveler, for the secrets of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess that will be revealed to you today could very well affect Link’s quest to free Hyrule.

Unlike previous Zelda games, it would take five heart pieces to form one heart container (the precursors required just four). Today, you will learn all locations for the secret heart pieces.

Forest Temple

• Find the room occupied by two huge, carnivorous flowers. Hit the spider bomb once to set off its timer, pick up the bomb, and then throw it down the gap to destroy the flower. The revealed doorway would contain a chest with a heart container.
• Visit the water-filled room with creatures hiding under the floor tiles. Use the boomerang to snuff the four torches at the end of the room to lower the platforms revealing a chest. The heart piece is inside.

Goron Mines

• Speak with the first elder and go to the ceiling-walking part. Use the Iron Boots to walk to the northwest corner of the room to get the chest with a heart piece.
• Find the room with a drawbridge and two turrets, climb the T-shaped part of the wall using the Iron Boots and go to the right to access the chest holding a heart piece.

Death Mountain

• Visit the Goron on the Death Mountain trail between Kakariko Village and the area with all of the Gorons. He’ll boost you to the upper ledge. Go north, and then east to find a cave with the heart piece.

Hyrule Field

• Faron Province: Go to the south of the bridge and use the boomerang to get the heart piece stuck in the tree branches.
• Eldin Province: Go to the east of Kakariko Gorge and find a rocky pillar with a heart piece on top. Use the boomerang to obtain the item.
• Eldin Province: Destroy the boulder north of Kakariko Village on the west side and follow the trail south to another destroyable rock. Use a Bomb Arrow and climb the vine to reach the heart piece.
• Eldin Province: There’s a Spinner track to the east of the bridge on the northern wall of Eldin Province. When at the track’s end, dig into a cavern and beat the enemies within to make a heart piece appear.
• Kakariko Gorge: Travel to the southwest area of Kakariko Gorge and grapple onto the middle of the rock formation. Then latch onto the cliff below and then to the vines to obtain the heart piece.
• Lanayru Province: Take the northern path located north of Hyrule castle to find a boulder blocking the path. Destroy it and use the Ball and Chain to clear the ice out of the way and find the heart piece.

Kakariko Village

• After conquering the Goron Mines, use the Goron near the bomb shop to launch to the top of the store. Continue up the mountain and use the next Goron to reach the upper floor of the nearby building. Climb the ladder and speak with the child to accept her request on demonstrating the use of the bow. Shoot the targets straight ahead and on top of the eastern building to trigger a challenge from the children. The children will then dare you to hit the distant pole to the female child’s left. Just place the cursor over the pole and let the arrow fly to obtain a Heart Piece.
• There’s a large rock that can be destroyed with bombs near the southeast entrance of the village. Proceed up the revealed path and jump into the pool of water below with your iron boots equipped to open the chest at the bottom containing a heart piece.
• Use a bomb arrow to destroy the boulders on a cliff above the rock you destroyed for the previous heart to make another heart piece appear. Use the boomerang to get it.
• Speak with the elder outside Malo’s Shop after contributing 1,000 rupees for bridge reconstruction for a challenge. Maneuver Link around the enemies and pour the water onto the Goron.

Lake Hylia

• Use the Clawshot on the vines in the rear of Lanayru’s spring and ignite the two torches in the south part of the room to make a chest containing a heart piece.
• Destroy the boulder south of the Howling Stone and work your way through the dark cavern. Light the two torches at the end for a heart piece.
• Speak with the bird Plumm, on the west side of the lake to begin in a minigame. Score 10,000 points to earn a piece of heart. Aim for combos by collecting subsequent fruits of the same type.
• Use Fyer’s Cannon to reach the Falbi’s Flight-by-Fowl challenge. Now grab a cucco and float over to the multi-tiered island ahead and land on the small rotating platform at the top. The chest here contains 100 rupees. Now drop to the tiny platform below to find a piece of heart.

Ordon Village

• After beating the Goron Mines, return to Fado, Link’s employer, and herd twenty goats to get another heart piece.

Ordon Woods

• Destroy the large rock north of Coro’s house then go to the statue. Move the statue into the nearby slot with the Dominion Rod and then use Midna, while in Wolf form, to jump atop it and get the heart piece.

Lakebed Temple

• Use the Clawshot on the chandelier in the main room to find a chest containing a heart piece.
• With the water flowing westward, go through the first floor’s western room to trigger the switch across the bridge. Then use Clawshot on the wall for the heart piece.

Lanayru Province

• There’s a path on the eastern side of Lanayru Provence that’s blocked on either side by boulders. Destroy them, and then use the Spinner to follow the rail to the heart piece.

Lantern Cavern

• Destroy the boulder to the southwest of Kakariko Gorge’s bridge to enter a cavern. Light the two northwest torches for a heart piece.

Palace of Twilight

• Using the Light Sword, go to the southeast room of the eastern part of the temple and use it to dispel the fog along the east wall, then use Clawshot on a chest containing the heart piece.
• Go to the western part of the palace and use the Light Sword to fight through the fog and make your way to a platform in the southwest corner. It will drop you to a chest on the west side.

Sacred Grove

• From the Temple of Time, go to the large circular arena where the Skull Kid was and destroy the large boulder with a bomb. Dig where the rock was to find a hidden cave. Destroy all the enemies inside to reveal a chest containing a heart piece.

Snowpeak

• After conquering the Snowpeak temple, return to where you first met the Yeti and accept his snowboarding challenge. After you beat him, you’ll have to beat his wife Yeta. Once both are defeated, you’ll gain a piece of heart.

Arbiter’s Grounds

• Use the Clawshot over the sand in the northwest corner of the temple’s main room to find a heart piece.
• After getting the Spinner, use it on the track in the northwest corner of the basement floor to reach a piece of heart inside a chest.

Snowpeak Ruins

• Upon reaching the second floor of the main room, use the Clawshot to get the chandelier ahead swinging and jump aboard. Then turn and cross over the next two to reach a chest on the far end of the room containing a heart piece. Use the Clawshot to go back to the upper floor.
• See the cracks on the ground in the second floor’s northeast corner? Use a bomb or the Ball and Chain to destroy the remains and reveal a hole you can drop to with a heart piece.

Temple of Time

• While on the fifth floor in the room with the sliding walls, use the Dominion Rod to move a statue onto a floor switch to reach the chest with a heart piece.
• Use the Dominion Rod to move the statue in the southwest corner of the main room to access a heart piece.
• In the south room of the fifth floor, move two of the statutes onto floor switches in the south end of the room to make a chest appear.

Gerudo Desert

• Destroy the roasting boar in the northeast part of camp to reveal a heart piece.

Fishing Hole

• From the canoe, throw the fishing line towards the heart piece sitting atop the large rock sticking out of the water.

City in the Sky

• Shortly after the room where the large plant was, work your way to the second floor and follow the path until you find a thin concrete wall. Climb along it to cross the gap and find a chest containing a heart piece.
• In the third floor of the eastern part of the temple, make your way to the southern balcony by latching from plant to plant to reach a heart piece.

Eldin Bridge

• Use the Clawshot to reach a ledge north of the Bridge of Eldin. Enter the cavern to the southeast. Go through the cave to the third Iron Boot section to find the chest.
• Restore the Eldin Bridge by finding the broken portion on the southeast corner of Gerudo desert. Once it’s done, move one of the statues from the north end of the bridge to the south end. Lead it to a slot on the east and use it to jump across the gap to the ladder. At the top is a heart piece.

Castle Town

• There’s a man inside Castle Town near the east entrance begging for donations. If you contribute 1,000 rupees to his fund, you’ll be awarded with a heart piece.
