Tips and Tricks – Super Mario Sluggers (Wii)

September 11, 2008 by Mike

Forget what the critics say. Super Mario Sluggers is fun, and that’s that. If you’re a veteran of Mario-themed games, then you’re probably half expecting that there are unlockable characters in this baseball game. Well, you’re right. There are almost 40 unlockable characters for Super Mario Sluggers for the Wii, and getting them all isn’t a walk in the park (pun intended).

Want to know how each is unlocked? Then read on.

  • Baby DK – all you have to do to get Baby DK is beat DK’s team.
  • Wiggler – just win a game at the toy field.
  • Paratroopa – beat the minion guarding Wario City’s lighthouse.
  • Red Shy Guy – shoot the piranha plants in Yoshi’s Ballpark.
  • Blue Shy Guy – same thing here: shoot the piranha plants in Yoshi’s Ballpark.
  • Gray Shy Guy – use Peach to get this guy out of the log at Yoshi Park.
  • Green Shy Guy – use Peach to get Green Shy Guy out of the log at Yoshi Park.
  • Baby Luigi – work on the levers in Mario’s Stadium to connect the bridge. This little guy would then join you.
  • Baby Mario – after getting Baby Luigi, go to the field where you fight Bowser Jr.’s Team and save this little guy.
  • Baby Daisy – Go to Peach Garden and use Wario’s magnet to pull Baby Daisy’s rattle from the fountain. Then use Yoshi to go through the manhole cover on the left side of the garden to find this crying baby. When you give Baby Daisy the rattle, you unlock her.
  • Baby DK – use Yoshi’s power to free this little guy from a palm tree in the DK Jungle. Or, you can just defeat DK’s team.
  • Blue Noki – complete his task in Mario’s Stadium.
  • Green Noki – have Blue Noki in the team then talk Green Noki.
  • Red Noki – have both Nokis in the team then talk to Red Noki.
  • Blue Pianta – this fellow is trapped in the shop at Mario’s stadium. To unlock the Blue Pianta, just get the key and save him.
  • Toad – he’ll join you when you start Peach’s Stadium.
  • Baby Peach – find her hiding in a bush at Peaches Stadium.
  • Red Yoshi – find the brush that Red Yoshi lost. Then just find him in Yoshi’s Stadium.
  • Goomba – help him trace his shop at Wario City.
  • Peach – complete Peach’s stadium.
  • Daisy – complete Peach’s stadium.
  • Toadette – Talk to her in Peach’s Stadium.
  • Green Yoshi – just free him. Green Yoshi is stuck in the manhole at Yoshi’s ballpark.
  • Funky Kong – to unlock Funky Kong, you have to save him from the Hammer Brother in DK Jungle.
  • King K. Rool – beat all four Kritters at DK Jungle. Then go to the waterfall and defeat King K. Rool to unlock him.
  • Kritter – beating King K. Rool at the DK Jungle would also unlock Kritter.
  • Tiny Kong – beat Bowser Jr. at DK Jungle to unlock Tiny Kong.
  • Green Koopa – go to Wario City and free Green Koopa from the poster.
  • Red Paratroopa – look for the paintbrush in Yoshi Park, then use it to paint the giant billboard at Wario City.
  • Blooper – this one’s easy: complete all tutorials in the practice session.
  • Monty Mole – use Peach on the Monty Mole outline at the Mario Stadium beach.
  • Green Toad – search the bush in Peach’s Stadium, but only after finishing Toadette’s puzzle.
  • Boo – solve the block puzzle in Wario City using DK and Wario.
  • Waluigi – this guy is on top of a skyscraper in Wario City. Find him.
  • King Boo – talk to the Tiny Boos in a chest at Wario City.
  • Paragoomba – use Yoshi’s ground pound on one of the Wario city palm trees.
  • Birdo – beat Bowser Jr. at Yoshi Park.
  • Yellow Yoshi – use Yoshi to get this guy out of a tree at Yoshi Park.

So there you have it, a complete list of unlockable characters in Super Mario Sluggers for the Nintendo Wii. Watch out for more tips and tricks next week!
