The Legend of Zelda pre-launch twist revealed in trailer

Spirit Tracks holds a secret!
Since its inception in the mid-1980s, The Legend of Zelda has always been about rescuing Princess Zelda, but things have changed. In the next Zelda for the DS, the titular princess would be accompanying our Hylian hero Link in his quest to restore the Spirit Tracks. There is however a surprise: Zelda isn’t quite her royal self.
Let the video after the jump tell you all about it:
Yes, Zelda is the Phantom companion that we observed a few months back. Based on what we’ve seen in the video, Zelda’s spirit form lets her take control of the Phantom Guardian. Since we haven’t played the upcoming game, we don’t know if the Zelda/Phantom Guardian mechanic would be available throughout Spirit Tracks, but knowing the series’ track record, it’s going to be a blast.
Watch out for The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks on North American store shelves this December 7th. Mario and Zelda in the same holiday season? This is going to be a tight year.

[...] Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks release date announced; trailer included The long-awaited handheld game sequel is finally coming to your DS! You may ask when? Well, I’ll tell you, according to Daily Nintendo, it is supposed to be released December 7th. Not even a month to go anymore! What’s it called? The diehard Zelda fans already know, but for those who don’t it’s the Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. This is supposed to be the sequel to Phantom Hourglass. No, how I think of it? Well, I’m going to assume it’s like Phantom Hourglass; fun at first, but then warily gets boring down the road, as it does get repetitive. So, I am not too excited for this game, but I know quite a few people out there that would like to know. Here’s the video I found: (from Game Trailers) enjoy.
