September 11, 2009 by Mike · Leave a Comment

Time to learn some a few multiplayer tricks in The Conduit.
Fancy a few tips for The Conduit? You should. Unlike typical console shooters that use either analog sticks or mouse-like contraptions for aiming, The Conduit puts everyone in equal footing because of the Wiimote. Sega recently released a few videos for The Conduit that teaches useful multiplayer tips on weapons, the motion tracker, and control. Enjoy.

Metroid Prime 3 is a must-own compilation.
If you’re a true blue Metroid fan, then there’s a very good chance you’ve already heard of Metroid Prime: Trilogy, a compilation of all three Metroid Prime games for the Nintendo Wii. Good news: it’s already out in North America, and a few of the critics have already given their two cents’ worth. Surprisingly, not everyone seems to share your enthusiasm.

Review - Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal (WiiWare)

Guybrush is stuck in Flotsam Island.
Guybrush Threepwood has returned for more laughs in Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal for the WiiWare. In this pirate adventure, our inept hero fights his archenemy LeChuck, but somehow gets marooned on Flotsam Island. Threepwood must unravel the isle’s secrets; outwit a slightly mad, sexually-ambiguous doctor; and locate a magical, exfoliating sponge that can cure him of his cursed hand. Sounds like a Monkey Island game, alright.

Dead Space Wii might not be a cheap cash in after all

Is Dead Space Wii a cash in or bonafide game?
As you may have heard, Dead Space is coming to the Nintendo Wii and it’s going to be a rail shooter “guided first-person experience.” It can’t be helped that the decision to make Dead Space: Extraction a rail shooter has raised some concerns, namely the impression that this Wii game is merely a lazy cash in. Maybe this new video providing some details on Dead Space: Extraction’s control scheme would change your mind.

Reviews – No More Heroes (Wii)

No More Heroes is gratuitously violent.
It’s a rare occurrence when one gets to play a game for the Nintendo Wii that’s not aimed at the casual crowd but when it does happen, the experience isn’t always memorable. Luckily, No More Heroes is one of those singular gems: it’s pointlessly violent, thematically unique, and tightly designed—generally, at least.

Reviews – Bully: Scholarship Edition (Wii)

There's a lot of skull-busting fun in Bully.
As much as we’d probably hate to admit, 2008 was a rather slim year for the Nintendo Wii, relatively speaking. But before you lament the utter lack of well-made and “mature” games on the Wii, let me point out one gem that may have slipped your radar: Bully: Scholarship Edition.

Is it Wii Remote or Wiimote?
Hitwise told MCV that the Nintendo Wii and DS Lite are the UK’s most-searched products online in November. Funnily enough, the October leader that these two products overtook is also by Nintendo—it’s Wii Fit, that exercise game that’s still selling like crazy even after months of release.

Nintendo looks for new Wiimote accelerometer
December 6, 2008 by Mike · Leave a Comment
Have you ever wondered how the Wiimote senses your arm’s movement? It’s the accelerometer made by Analog Devices and STMicroelectronics. Based on the sales of the Nintendo Wii, it’s probably safe to say that aside from Nintendo, the providers of this nifty sensor are also making a lot of money.

Surviving a non-gamer Wii party with WarioWare: Smooth Moves
October 16, 2008 by Mike · Leave a Comment
The commercial success of the Nintendo Wii shows us that gaming has indeed reached mainstream consciousness. We see young women and the elderly—both unlikely gamer types—pick up the Wiimote and experience the same enchantment that the “core” audience undergoes.
