Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii hits 1M mark in UK

Based on the stats revealed by the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association, only a handful of games have sold over one million units in the UK. Today, this short list of games has become longer as two join the elite group: welcome Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii.

Gamasutra: Wii games top 2008 bestsellers to date

The year is still far from over, but Gamasutra has already put together the top five bestselling video games of 2008 so far in the U.S. Interestingly, four of the five games are for the Nintendo Wii. The official figures may have not been released yet, but Gamasutra claims that the maximum possible error in each figure should not affect the rankings at all.

EA’s new exercise game to compete with Nintendo’s Wii Fit
Nintendo’s selection of exercise games for the Wii has gotten a little more crowded. Nipping at the heels of Deep Silver’s entry into the console exercise market, EA has just announced that it is joining the fray as well. The biggest publisher’s new exercise game? EA Sports Active.

NPD: Nintendo DS, Wii rule hardware roost for August

The latest news on the hardware front doesn’t surprise anymore. According to the NPD Group, the Nintendo DS and Wii are once again on top of the U.S. hardware heap for the month of August 2008. The market research company revealed that the DS is the leader, selling 518,300 units while the Wii is a close second at 453,000.
