Link and Zelda team up in Spirit Tracks!

Link and Mario are coming!

Nintendo may have been overshadowed by Sony’s recent release of the PS3 Slim, but the House that Mario Built aims to change that this holiday season. Nintendo has announced the release dates for two marquee titles and it looks like a two-pronged attack: the New Super Mario Bros. is coming to the Wii, while The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is making its way to the DS.

Link is back!

Link is back!

More details on the new Zelda game emerge. Is it something to be excited about? If you loved Phantom Hourglass, the only Zelda game to hit the DS so far, then maybe. The next installment is called The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. If you know Nintendo, then you’re probably expecting a generous amount of devious dungeon adventuring, but does this new Zelda address the nauseatingly recurring Temple of the Ocean King problem posed by Phantom Hourglass?

Legend of Zelda returns to the DS.

Legend of Zelda returns to the DS.

Link is making a comeback in the Nintendo DS with The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, which looks a lot like Phantom Hourglass. This new Zelda’s gimmick: Link travels the game world using a steam-powered train. From the looks of things, this train is going to function like the S. S. Linebeck in Phantom Hourglass. In other words, Nintendo merely replaced the ship with a train. Check out the trailer after the jump:
