One of the many LKS characters.

One of the many LKS characters.

The surprise here isn’t the engaging gameplay, but the game’s ability to impress the most scathing of critics.

Dragon Quest returns to the diminutive Nintendo DS.

Dragon Quest returns to the diminutive Nintendo DS.

Everyone loves a good yarn. In RPGs, the story carries a huge influence on the player’s enjoyment, but it’s not the only basis of the game’s overall quality. Factors such as gameplay, presentation, and overall polish are also considered. Square Enix’s Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride does all these in spades, but it’s the story that leaves you wanting for more.

Reviews Surfing – Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (Wii)

January 27, 2009 by Mike · Leave a Comment

The list of role-playing games available for the Nintendo Wii is quite short. This is bizarre, considering that the Wii is selling like hotcakes and that RPGs are one of the more popular video game genres. Hopefully, the arrival of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World would help address this RPG shortage.

Kingdom Hearts is coming to the DS.

Kingdom Hearts is coming to the DS.

The title may be hideous, but it can’t be denied that the upcoming Kingdom Hearts for the Nintendo DS is getting a lot of attention. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (pronounced “Kingdom Hearts three-five-eight days over two”) is the fourth in the series and it’s going to have multiplayer. A Square RPG with multiplayer? Believe it.

Sonic the Hedgehog is back in the Nintendo DS, but it’s not quite the same Sonic that we’re used to. Reviews – Spore Creatures (DS)

September 24, 2008 by Mike · 1 Comment

Spore Creatures is a charming game, and is nothing like its PC counterpart, but that’s not necessarily a bad or good thing. By itself, Spore Creatures is actually not bad. However, since the game carries the “Spore” moniker, comparisons and criticisms can’t be avoided.
