This is one music game that's jaw-droppingly PURDY.
Band-specific music games aren’t new, but the arrival of The Beatles: Rock Band on consoles (and the Wii, in particular) gives the stagnating genre a much needed lift. Strangely, the game doesn’t really bring anything significantly new to the table, but it can’t be denied that what The Beatles: Rock Band does, it does with flair. Like the quartet this music game is based on, The Beatles: Rock Band is nothing short of fantastic. Today, we tell you why.

Band Hero is Guitar Hero with less guitar.
Say what you want about the glut of music games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band—the genre is white hot and you know it. This is why Activision is striking continuously riding while the wave is at its zenith. One of the top publisher’s latest outings is Band Hero, which is actually a spin-off of Guitar Hero. So what’s the difference between Band Hero and Guitar Hero? Band Hero veers away from the focus on lead guitars, and is replaced by kid-friendly tunes. What do the critics think of the Wii version? The Beatles have invaded the Wii.
Talk about rhythm game fatigue. Last week, we showed you how Guitar Hero 5 was doing on the Nintendo Wii. I’ll give you a hint: the critics loved it. Today, another rhythm game for the Wii is set to compete for our attention and budget. The Beatles: Rock Band is now released, and with much fanfare not only because it’s about the Beatles, but because it’s a really good game. See what the jaded critics think.

Reviews Surfing – Rock Band 2 (Wii)

Several months ago, the world was treated to Rock Band’s sequel, and it knocked the socks off critics and gamers alike. For some reason, the Nintendo Wii version was delayed, but was fortunately able to make it before Christmas. Better late than never, they always say. From what we’ve seen in the reviews so far, Rock Band 2 is indeed worth the wait.
