Nintendo sure loves printing its own money. To keep up with the DS (and all its variants) handheld’s blistering pace, The House That Mario Built decided to roll out an “enhanced” remake of Pokémon Gold and Silver games, which came out for the Game Boy Color back in 1999. The enhanced remakes are christened Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. If you want to see how the upcoming Pokémon games look, then check out the video after the jump. Be warned: there’s not much difference between the “enhanced” remakes and its recent predecessors.

Nintendo recently released some figures for its bestselling games during April to June on the DS and Wii. As expected, the Wii top sellers look awfully familiar—they’re perennial chartbusters. However, the DS hit was entirely brand new. Check out the quarter’s best after the jump.

Pokémon Platinum gets a trial by fire.

Pokémon has done it again. It’s customary for the popular franchise to release two versions of the same game, name them differently, and ship a similar third game two years later. Pokémon Platinum is the enhanced version of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl—sort of a director’s cut. If you’ve played the previous editions, only a few reasons remain to play Platinum: two additional areas, new Pokémon, and tweaks to the online mode.

Pokémon is a massive media franchise that has spawned video games, anime series, soundtracks, and even a trading card game. While Pokémon has branched off into several different avenues, its foray into video games remains to be one of the most successful. The latest installment is Pokémon Platinum, an enhanced remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

Elebits has made it to the Nintendo DS, but it’s not quite the same game as it was on the Wii. Unlike the Wii’s first-person adventure, The Adventures of Kai and Zero takes players on a multi-dimensional romp that’s part Pokémon and part Legend of Zelda.

The year is young, but it looks like Nintendo has already lined-up its 2009 releases for Japan, Europe, and the U.S. Certain parts of the list aren’t very precise (i.e. no specific calendar days), but hey, you can’t win them all. Nintendo dominates Japan hardware sales in early October

According to Media Create, a Japanese console games market analyst, Nintendo again dominated hardware sales. It’s not exactly news, but the big surprise is the winner of the software charts. Macross Ace Frontier, an anime-licensed game for the PSP, takes the top honors and edges out Pokémon Platinum for the DS.
