Tips and Tricks - No More Heroes (Wii)

Here's how to kick Destroyman's rear end.
Travis Touchdown is a luchador-loving, part-time assassin/otaku obsessed with anime, porn, and action figures. Incidentally, the anti-hero behind No More Heroes is going up against a cosplayer in his next ranked match. If the last battle against Shinobu gave you a scare, then relax a little—Destroyman won’t be as tough.
Why? Because Destroyman is a bit of an idiot. Like your typical anime character, Destroyman makes it a point to announce the name of his next attack. It makes you wonder why anime characters have so much trouble fighting each other.

This week, Travis fights for a higher ranking.
Now that you’ve conquered Punch-Out!!, it’s time to return to Santa Destroy and see what Travis Touchdown is up to. Last time we checked, Travis was busy dodging bullets in a baseball stadium. This week, Travis plays the ungentlemanly assassin and picks a fight with Shinobu, a gal with mad katana skills. Shinobu is easily one of the toughest opponents in No More Heroes so pay attention.

No More Heroes 2 has wench missiles.
Despite positive reviews, last year’s No More Heroes for the Nintendo Wii wasn’t exactly flying off the shelves, particularly in director Suda51’s homeland. Because of this, the announcement of a sequel raises some concerns. No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is again coming to the Wii, and it’s likely going to be as awesome as the original. Check out the new trailer.

For some reason, Dr. Peace wants to sing alone in a baseball field.
Talk about strange. No More Heroes for the Wii features some of the oddest enemies on this side of Nintendo consoles. This week, we feature the battle for rank 9. The enemy: Dr. Peace, a belting gun slinger with a penchant for blood. The battle isn’t really tough, but if you’re not careful, the good doctor will take you down easily.

We'll teach you how to fight.
No More Heroes is violent—there’s no question about that. This week, we focus on the game’s most violent and particularly enjoyable parts: the ranked battles with other assassins. If you wish to survive the major enemies that this “mature” Wii game throws at you, better start taking notes.

Reviews – No More Heroes (Wii)

No More Heroes is gratuitously violent.
It’s a rare occurrence when one gets to play a game for the Nintendo Wii that’s not aimed at the casual crowd but when it does happen, the experience isn’t always memorable. Luckily, No More Heroes is one of those singular gems: it’s pointlessly violent, thematically unique, and tightly designed—generally, at least.
