New Super Mario Bros. Wii is tough as nails

You're all in the same boat--literally.
Are you one of the gamers who found New Super Mario Bros. on the DS too easy? Great news: the upcoming New Super Mario Bros. Wii is going to be so hard your self-esteem is going to drop like a rock. At least, that’s what the game journos at MTV Multiplayer and Joystiq said. MTV thinks New Super Mario Bros. Wii is “as hard as Contra,” while Joystiq expects people playing the game’s coop mode to turn homicidal.
If like me, you find the idea of exasperating, controller-hurling gameplay a thrill, then you’re probably aching for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. While you’re waiting for the November 15 launch to arrive, watch the game’s latest trailer—maybe you’ll find something that strikes your fancy.

Link and Mario are coming!
Nintendo may have been overshadowed by Sony’s recent release of the PS3 Slim, but the House that Mario Built aims to change that this holiday season. Nintendo has announced the release dates for two marquee titles and it looks like a two-pronged attack: the New Super Mario Bros. is coming to the Wii, while The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is making its way to the DS.

This new Mario platformer screams WIN.
A trailer for the New Super Mario Bros. Wii has just been released, showing off the latest features that the throwback platformer would come with. The upcoming 2D Mario adventure is going to introduce new suits, deviously-designed levels, and other features that would turn this Wii adventure upside down.

Nintendo Wii, DS games dominate NPD top 20

The Wii prints money.
News of Nintendo’s market dominance no longer surprises anyone, but they’re still fun to know. The latest tidbit? The NPD Group gave Gamasutra the list of top 20 console and handheld games in the U.S. for December 2008. More than ten games are either for the Wii or DS, and nine were published by Nintendo.
