Review – Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (DS)

The flamethrower is made of awesome.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars may seem akin to your dad’s old-school GTA with its top-down perspective, but the similarity ends there. GTA: Chinatown Wars is more comparable with the recent GTA IV, which graced the bigger, more powerful consoles. Chinatown Wars is certainly no watered-down version of console GTAs. In fact, the game introduces new features that are likely going to be included in future installments of the franchise.

Mario Kart Wii is bestselling game of 2008

Mario is again on top of video game land.
Mario Kart Wii is the best-selling game of 2008. That’s right, out of the hundreds of video games released in a span of 12 months, it was Mario Kart Wii that sold the most number of units. Not Grand Theft Auto IV, not Call of Duty: World at War, not Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Gamasutra: Wii games top 2008 bestsellers to date

The year is still far from over, but Gamasutra has already put together the top five bestselling video games of 2008 so far in the U.S. Interestingly, four of the five games are for the Nintendo Wii. The official figures may have not been released yet, but Gamasutra claims that the maximum possible error in each figure should not affect the rankings at all.

GTA Chinatown Wars to have majority of GTA IV map
It pays to know your languages, especially when said languages provide information about your favorite games that can be tricky to come by. Rockstar Watch certainly did reap its benefits, as the site discovered that Spanish magazine Hispana (name may not be translated correctly) claims to know new details about Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS.
