Dr. Mario theme gets lyrics
November 15, 2009 by Mike · Leave a Comment

There's something disturbing about Dr. Mario.
The classic Mario overworld theme deserved its own lyrics (see the Super Mario Bros. Super Show), and with good reason: It’s one of the most recognizable tunes in pop culture. Now it’s only a matter of time before other Mario anthems started having their own. Guess who’s next? It’s Dr. Mario. But a word of warning—the lyrics and video are hilarious, but there’s some pretty unsettling stuff here that’s considered NSFW.

Watch the real life Mario Kart

The real life Mario Kart?
Last week, we showed you the trailer for Mario Kart: The Movie, which isn’t really an upcoming movie. Today, we show you another Mario Kart video clip. The difference? This one is the real deal. “Real” meaning the kart is truly racing dangerously through city streets. Of course, it’s not really Mario driving, just some guy dressed like him. Oh, and Santa Claus isn’t real.

Toadsworth shares no resemblance with Brad Pitt.
If you’re a hardcore Nintendo fan, then you’re probably aware of a few bizarre team-ups over the years, especially when talking about a Super Smash Bros. game. However, this week’s video may be the strangest combination you’ve seen yet: Super Mario meets Quentin Tarantino in Inglorious Plummers—a spoof of Tarantino’s upcoming film Inglorious Basterds.

Itsa Goomba's Shoe!
Mario may be a hit in Nintendo land, but as you’ve probably figured out when you reached your teens (or perhaps even earlier), pudgy Italian plumbers and reality don’t really mix well. But before you dismiss the combination for good, see how a Goomba’s Shoe translates into real life.

Oddities: Super Mario Tesla coils
Ahh, geeks. Given enough time on their hands, they’ll do anything—and that includes making two huge seven-foot Tesla coils to play the Super Mario Bros. theme. Steve Ward and Jeff Larson, the creators of the Tesla coils, didn’t exactly make them contraptions for kicks. They actually took part in the 2007 Lightning on the Lawn Teslathon in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

A strange tale of a Wii and credit cards

Is this Wii tale true?
Here’s an interesting story to start off our young year: a NeoGAF member shared a story of a neighbor who recently bought a Nintendo Wii for their kids this Christmas. While there are pictures that seem to prove the tale’s authenticity, we still can’t say for sure that it’s true because it’s just too odd.
