Wii Motion Plus adds depth to Red Steel 2 swordplay

Wii Motion Plus + Red Steel = awesome?
Red Steel generated a lot of buzz leading to its release not because of aggressive marketing, but because it was the first third-party game for the Nintendo Wii to show off a few dazzling screenshots. What’s not to love? Red Steel was a first-person shooter using the Wii’s motion controls. The game was supposed to change the way we play console shooters. Unfortunately, things took a bad turn when Red Steel came out—the critics were disappointed with Red Steel’s iffy controls.
Red Steel 2 hopes to change all that.
The sequel is still a first-person shooter and you still alternate between hacking foes with a katana and shooting them in the face. The difference maker is going to be the Wii Motion Plus, an add-on device for the Wiimote provides a greater range of complex motions. Exactly how is Wii Motion Plus going to change the sword fights? Find out in the new Red Steel 2 developer diary.

Review - The Conduit (Wii)

The Conduit boasts customizable controls.
It is common knowledge that the games available for the Nintendo Wii are teeming with badly-implemented waggle and/or mediocre mini games, especially when it comes to third-party efforts. The Wii has a major shortage of quality first-person shooters, and that’s what High Voltage Software hopes to address as it releases The Conduit. Does High Voltage Software succeed in finally introducing an FPS behemoth for the Nintendo console?

Reviews – Moon (DS)

Hectic shooting? Not in Moon.
Moon isn’t your typical first-person shooter. This latest Nintendo DS game places less emphasis on hectic shooting to satisfying that itchy trigger finger and instead focuses on adventure. In a way, Moon is a mix of Metroid Prime and System Shock 2, but it’s not quite scary or perfectly polished. So what exactly is Moon?

Reviews Surfing – Moon (DS)

Like the Nintendo Wii, the DS is a great platform for first-person shooters thanks to its innovative control scheme. Ironically, the Nintendo handheld is also lacking good FPSes. This is why games like Moon, a new shooter from Renegade Kid, are prized additions to the system’s lean FPS library.

New video for The Conduit shows off purdy visuals

His fingers should be crossed.
For a console that’s well-suited for first-person shooters, the Nintendo Wii is surprisingly lean when it comes to its FPS lineup. There’s Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, and Call of Duty 3, but the rest isn’t exactly screaming “must buy.” Hopefully, The Conduit would be added to this short list when Spring rolls by.
