Band Hero is Guitar Hero with less guitar.
Say what you want about the glut of music games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band—the genre is white hot and you know it. This is why Activision is striking continuously riding while the wave is at its zenith. One of the top publisher’s latest outings is Band Hero, which is actually a spin-off of Guitar Hero. So what’s the difference between Band Hero and Guitar Hero? Band Hero veers away from the focus on lead guitars, and is replaced by kid-friendly tunes. What do the critics think of the Wii version? Is Kurt Cobain Guitar Hero material?

Does Cobain belong in Guitar Hero?
Before the popularity of Guitar Hero, the game, the term “guitar hero” referred to technically-proficient guitar players who can shred the lights out of a performance. It’s no wonder many of the songs in Guitar Hero feature fast solos that could cause cramps on even the hardiest of digits. But when Activision announced that the late Kurt Cobain was going to be digitized for Guitar Hero 5, I couldn’t help but scratch my head.

Guitar Hero: Van Halen raises more questions than answers

Time to bring out your spandex—the first trailer for Guitar Hero: Van Halen is here. Guitar Hero: Van Halen is the third band-specific game in the series. If you’re a fan of the band and its famous brown sound, then you’re probably going to be itching to see the new Guitar Hero video.

Reviews Surfing - Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits (DS)

Guitar Hero is on a roll this year with five games expected to hit shelves before 2009 ends. One of these installments has arrived on the Nintendo DS, and it’s called Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits. Two Guitar Hero games have already been released for the DS, making Modern Hits the third entry. Does Modern Hits have what it takes to transcend the glut of Guitar Hero games, or is it instant bargain material? The critics speak out.
