Silent Hill Wii remake shows lots of promise

Shattered Memories might just be the next great third-party Wii game.
Just when you’re about to give up on third-party games on the Wii, a promising new title pops up and tells you otherwise. Such is the tale of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, a reimagining of the first Silent Hill that scared our socks off a decade ago. Check out the two latest trailers and you’ll see that the game seems to be doing many things right.

Here are some things that make Silent Hill: Shattered Memories very promising:
- Dynamic lighting;
- Occasionally-flickering flashlight;
- Constant mind screwing;
- Sharp visuals and great audio;
- Contextual comments by the protagonist;
- Appropriate motion controls;
- Smart monsters–at least they looked smart in the second trailer;
- And best of all—no weapons and combat! You’re going to have to run like hell.
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories has just come out today. If you’re looking for a great Wii purchase not named Mario or Zelda this holiday season, then you should really give this game a hard look.
