Punch-Out!! to hit Nintendo’s Wii

Hardcore fans rejoice! If the recent announcement of the DSi wasn’t enough, Nintendo also announced that Punch-Out!!, a classic boxing game for the NES, would be coming out exclusively for the Wii in 2009. Still in denial? Then watch the video to quell all your doubts.

As you may have observed, Little Mac is back in the starring role. There’s still no indication if Doc Louis, Little Mac’s trainer, would be returning or if Mario would be back as the referee. What we can confirm is that Glass Joe, King Hippo, and Von Kaiser are returning to the ring to box the lights out of our diminutive hero.

According to IGN, the Wii version of Punch-Out!! Is being developed by Next Level Games, the creator of Spider-Man: Friend or Foe and Super Mario Strikers. Interestingly, the last Punch-Out!! game was Super Punch-Out!!, which was released for the SNES in October 1994.

14 years is an awfully long wait.
