New Ragnarok Online DS trailer reveals new details
November 24, 2008 by Mike
Do you still remember the first trailer for the Nintendo DS version of Ragnarok Online? Of course you do. As you may recall, GungHo Entertainment, the MMORPG’s publisher in Japan, is hard at work to bringing the PC sensation to the small screen. While the rest of the gaming world is still waiting for an English version, do take the time and watch the game’s latest video.
Aside from the features that we already know (i.e. the game co-op via Wi-Fi), certain bits of information can be gleaned from the Japanese trailer:
- The names of the main heroes
- The number of characters in the party (probably five)
- I saw something about “new account 30 days” written in English, but I could only speculate. According to a blog named Project Revolution, once you buy the DS version, you’re given a free item code for the MMORPG version. But watch out—you’re given only 30 days to claim the item. Once you input the code, two items would be added to your account:
Item 1: Odin’s Mask (with the following stats)
- All Transcendent Classes Except High Novice
- Required Lvl. 50
- Lower & Mid Head Slot
- Adds 6% damage to all Demi-Human Monsters
- Hit -10
- Unbreakable
Item 2: Village Benefits (don’t ask me why)
- Accessory Slot
- Novice Only
- For each monster killed you will gain a +5% Exp boost.
- Adds +5% damage to all monsters
We also learned that there are two additional job classes available in the game: The Shaman and Dark Knight. I’ve heard of the Dark Knight, but I’ve never heard of the Shaman profession in Ragnarok.
If you can read or understand Japanese, or if you won’t let the language barrier stop you from importing Ragnarok Online DS, then watch out for the game as it hits retail on December 18, 2008. If you won’t mind the wait, then perhaps a Western publisher would pick this title up and translate it to English several months down the road.
