Another Late DailyNintendo review - Rayman and the Raving Rabbids 2

March 23, 2008 by admin

Welcome to another late review by DailyNintendo. We are busy around here, so we get around to games when we can. Check out what Raving Rabbids 2 has to offer.

Info:

Rayman and the Raving Rabbids was a unique party game for the Wii. It was….different, odd, and funny. But the problem wasn’t the controls, nor was it the story. It was the mini games. Some just weren’t fun. And there really was no lasting appeal in the last entry of the series. Does Raving Rabbids 2 have what it takes to make the series fresh again.

Unlike the first Raving Rabbids, you get the choice to travel the world. And play as the Rabbids themselves. In the one player mode you’ll unlock costumes, and games. In multiplayer you’ll unlock the same, just not as much. The fun with multiplayer is you can play through the campaign together. Each person can play as a Rabbid, and one can be Rayman (if he/she chooses to).

(this was probably the funnest mini game we ever played, you talk on the phone in a theater trying not to get caught by employees that work there. You can send a text message to a friend to get them caught too.)

Content:

Being a rabbid is the funnest part of the game. Not only are they funny, but they are also customizable like Rayman. You can change their hair, give them hats, masks, helmets, cloths, or change their bodies all together. There are a TON of video game parody costumes available. Most of them from Ubi-Soft games. Our rabbids were dressed as, Spider-man, Altar (from assassin’s creed), a Rainbow Six Vegas swat team member, Super Man, a transformer, A samurai, a Viking, and a TON TON more.

You unlock things by getting a score higher then 12,000 in each minigame. Sounds simple, and a lot of times its too easy. Then other times its WAY to hard. It seems they didn’t put focus on which score is possible to reach in each mini game. Instead they just made it 12,000 points for each game to unlock things. Some times its just impossible.

(this mini game you’ll be forced to bring food to a hungry customer, and try not to drop it)

Gameplay:

Controls work pretty well for the most part. They are simple. Some are rather repetitive. Being to similar to the others. Another problem is the same one we had with the first Raving Rabbids, some games just aren’t fun. And seem like they were just tacked on to make you laugh. Another disopointment would be the shooting game. In Rabbids 1, it was probably one of the funnest features of the game. In this entry it suffers are one of the worst. Instead of moving through a 3d environment with rabbids attacking you. You’ll be put in real time movie clip footage of cities, and places around the world. With rabbids cut and pasted in for you to shoot. While this may seem fun, or funny. It makes it rather boring, and things move slower because of it. Also it makes aiming work kinda choppy.

(in this game you have to see how long you can fool around at work with out getting hurt)

pros:

-tons of games

-great multiplayer experience, and multiplayer compaign

-custom characters (rabbids) make each one seem personal and unique

-Game has a great sense of humor that will keep you laughing

-controls work well

cons:

-Game can be to easy to score, while others are to difficult

-high score system is put together rather lazy

-Some games just are not fun, and seemed tacked on

-Wifi logo is misleading, only for wifi ranking, NO ONLINE multiplayer

-Shooting mini game, has been taken down a notch

(its no Rock Band, but the music mini games are very fun, especially in groups)

Conclusion:

If you played the first, you’ll find that 2 has been greatly improved and is more addicting, and fun. There are a ton of more features and content to keep you amused for some time. Some games are fun and addictive, but some are just to difficult and not fun. Wifi play would have been a nice feature to be included. In the end, its a well put together mini game experience, don’t expect a deep experience. But if you want a party game for you and your friends, its perfect.
