Broken Sword is reminiscent of Da Vinci Code.

Broken Sword is reminiscent of Da Vinci Code.

Fortunately, the Nintendo DS has renewed interest in the genre, and adventure games like Trace Memory, Hotel Dusk, and Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars – The Director’s Cut have begun making its way to Nintendo systems. Reviews Surfing - Little King’s Story (Wii)

One of the many LKS characters.

One of the many LKS characters.

For a system that’s leading the current generation of console wars, the Nintendo Wii has yet to add another critically-acclaimed game to its line-up. The arrival of Little King’s Story in PAL regions hopes to change all that. Little King’s Story is a unique mix of RPG, real-time strategy, and life simulation. The surprise here isn’t the engaging gameplay, but the game’s ability to impress the most scathing of critics.

See Kingdom Hearts DS in action.

When we first heard that the DS version of Kingdom Hearts will come with gameplay similar to its predecessors, I couldn’t help but feel uneasy. Let’s face it—as well-loved as Kingdom Hearts is, the last game (Kingdom Hearts II) would’ve been better if it weren’t too dependent on button mashing.

Wii sales in Japan: The Big Picture

April 25, 2009 by Mike · Leave a Comment

Forget the drama, the Wii is still #1 overall. For now, at least.

Forget the drama, the Wii is still #1 overall. For now, at least.

Is the Nintendo Wii’s dominance in Japan over? For two straight months, the Wii has been outsold by Sony’s PS3 in the Land of the Rising Sun, and this has been attributed to the Nintendo console’s less attractive lineup of GameCube remakes. As a result, Nintendo’s stock has also taken a hit because of the Wii’s year-on-year “decline.”

The minigames can be unforgiving.

The minigames can be unforgiving.

Beyond the goofiness, the Beyoncé commercial, and the DSi hype, Rhythm Heaven is all about tapping and flicking the stylus in step with the music. For a game that’s so simple, Rhythm Heaven can be so compelling for casual and hardcore gamers alike. Does Rhythm Heaven meet or exceed the massive hype, or is it bargain bin fodder? We tap, flick, and tinker to find out.

Review Surfing – WarioWare: Snapped! (DSiWare)

April 22, 2009 by Mike · Leave a Comment

The Nintendo DSi was released last April 5 and was met with commercial success, moving a ridiculous 435,000 units in its first week alone. Alas, the number of DSiWare games available stateside is still a bit meager. Fortunately, WarioWare: Snapped! is here to keep us occupied while we wait for the DSiWare library to grow. Is the game worth the 500-point purchase? The critics speak up.

Dead Space Wii is coming this Fall.

Dead Space Wii is coming this Fall.

EA is quick to correct anyone that calls Dead Space: Extraction an on-rails shooter, and instead calls the upcoming Nintendo Wii game a “guided first-person experience.” The folks at EA Redwood Shores promise that Dead Space: Extraction would be “a little bit more” than a rail shooter. They tell us why in this latest interview.

Don't mess with the Hippo, Jimmy Fallon.

What do Sesame Street’s Elmo, rapper Ice-T, and G4’s Morgan Webb have in common? They endured TV host Jimmy Fallon’s utter lack of gaming skills as he played Punch-Out!! on the Nintendo Wii. Then again, we seriously doubt a Muppet could do better—not even a really cute one.

The Wii's U.S. sales have dipped by 17%

Zoiks! Remember when we said the Nintendo Wii has been outsold by Sony’s PlayStation 3 for the past two months in Japan? Well, the jinx seems to be spreading stateside.
