Guitar Hero: Metallica has arrived for the Wii.
Metal heads and Guitar Hero fans have one major reason to be pleased about—Guitar Hero: Metallica has arrived. Based on the reviews, Guitar Hero: Metallica delivers great fan service and one of the best Guitar Hero experiences to date. Alas, the Nintendo Wii version doesn’t support any DLC, but it does include a few songs from Death Magnetic. Is Guitar Hero: Metallica worth the $50 tag? The critics speak out.

New Zelda DS trailer released

Legend of Zelda returns to the DS.
Link is making a comeback in the Nintendo DS with The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, which looks a lot like Phantom Hourglass. This new Zelda’s gimmick: Link travels the game world using a steam-powered train. From the looks of things, this train is going to function like the S. S. Linebeck in Phantom Hourglass. In other words, Nintendo merely replaced the ship with a train. Check out the trailer after the jump:

Watch Nintendo Wii games in 720p

If you’ve always wondered what Nintendo Wii games would look like on high-definition, then it’s time you watched these videos. Does this mean playing the Wii on 720p is possible? Not exactly. You’ll need a Dolphin emulator and legally copy your Wii game to the PC.

Nintendo DSi is back on top in Japan

The DSi also prints money.
Remember the weird fluke that happened earlier this month? See, the PlayStation 3 outsold all other game consoles/handhelds in Japan. It outsold the Nintendo DSi, DS Lite, PSP, and PS2 because of the PS3’s Yakuza 3. Well, this week, everything is back to normal. The DSi is back on top.

Overkill is how one gains "Sin."
When one speaks of mature games, the first thing that usually comes to mind is violence. Such is the case in Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume. The new strategy RPG for the Nintendo DS is certainly violent because its gameplay consists mainly of battle after isometric battle. However, Covenant of the Plume also depicts life and death like no other game has, and that makes it mature.

Pokémon is a massive media franchise that has spawned video games, anime series, soundtracks, and even a trading card game. While Pokémon has branched off into several different avenues, its foray into video games remains to be one of the most successful. The latest installment is Pokémon Platinum, an enhanced remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

The Punch-Out!! video reeks of nostalgia.
There’s a new trailer for Punch-Out!! for the Nintendo Wii. There are more gameplay footage this time, and it’s quite effective in bringing out the retro gamer fan in you. Is it the new 3D graphics? Is it the nostalgic music? Is it the idea of playing a new Punch-Out!!? The answer to all those questions is a resounding yes.

Beyoncé endorses Rhythm Heaven, Nintendo DS

Beyoncé got game.
What do Nicole Kidman, Liv Tyler, Julie Walters, and Patrick Stewart have in common? At some point, these celebs were all endorsers of the Nintendo DS and its games. You can now add Beyoncé to that list. According to Entertainment Weekly, Beyoncé was recently taping a TV ad for Rhythm Heaven and showed off her gaming IQ, which consisted mostly of Guitar Hero, Tetris, and BrickBreaker.

Nintendo DS takes kids to school in Osaka

The DS has become cool for school.
You’ve probably heard that the Nintendo Wii was being used for teaching physical education, but did you know that the DS is now a classroom tool as well? According to TechRadar, ten primary schools in Osaka, Japan have agreed to use the DS as an educational supplement to help kids get more out of their lessons.
